Job Description This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
The Academic Advisor II, complies with all state, system, and university policies, regulations, rules, procedures, guidelines, and directives in a timely manner and adhere to confidentiality policies (FERPA).
Responsibilities: - Provide academic advisement for General Studies majors. Assisting students as they transition to PVAMU from high school or other educational institutions.
- Provide administrative support to the Dean, of Undergraduate Studies. Provides support for associated activities and office management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience: - Bachelor's degree.
- Two years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Other Requirements: - Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
- Travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in Education, Psychology or other related field.
- Two or more years in advisement, social work, education or related field.
- Must have the willingness and ability to be trained in Academic Advising.
- Knowledge of general student services in post-secondary institutions.
- Must be able to work flexible non-standard hours to include nights and weekends.
